Suo-motu cognizance -- by SCPD
The SCPD took Suo-motu cognizance on a news item published in daily “Sambad” dt.18.02.2015 regarding 45 numbers of students with disabilities of Durgadevi High School, Daya Vihar under Kanas Block in the district of Puri who had filled up forms for the matriculation examination of this year mentioning Odia as Fist Language Subject and English as Second Language Subject but in their admit cards there was mention of Environment Science as their Second Language Subject and in spite of letter of the Headmaster of the concerned school to rectify the error, the Board of Secondary Education has not corrected the Admit Cards for which there is chances of debarring those 45 candidates to appear in the examination. As there was chances of losing one academic year in their education by those students the SCPD called upon the Board of Secondary Education, Odisha Cuttack (Respondent) to take up immediate steps to rectify the error, issue revised admit cards to those students and to submit compliance report to SCPD by 20.02.2015 as the examination was to commence from 23.02.2015. In obedience to such order the Respondent submitted compliance report through e-mail on dt.20.02.2015 in letter No.391 dt.20.02.2015 stating that the order of the SCPD was complied and those 45 students were allowed to appear in the Annual High School Certificate Examination, 2015 in English as Second Language.
