MESSAGE OF THE STATE COMMISSIONER

The office of the State Commissioner for Persons with Disabilities, Odisha, established under Section 60 of the Persons with Disabilities (Equal Opportunities, Protection of Rights & Full Participation) Act, 1995 and The Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016, has been mandated to take steps to safeguard the rights of persons with disabilities. The Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016 came into force on December 27, 2016 to give effect to the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities. The office of the State Commissioner will coordinate with the Departments of the State Government for the programmes and schemes for the benefit of persons with disabilities in the State. As a quasi-judicial body, the officer of the State Commissioner will strive to point out the violation of the rights by different agencies, and ensure that no person shall be deprived of his or her personal liberty only on the ground of disability. The Commissioner feels that the persons with disabilities are actually able. They have excelled in various fields. To nurture and protect their abilities is the objective of the Commissioner.

The Official website of the State Commissioner for Persons with Disabilities(SCPD), Odisha has been built with an aim to provide maximum accessibility and usability to its visitors.

 

This website can be viewed from a variety of devices such as Desktop / Laptop computers, web-enabled mobile devices, WAP phones, PDAs, etc.However, currently Portable Document Format(PDF) files are not fully accessible.

 

We aim to be standards compliant and follow principles of usability and universal design, which should help all visitors of this website.
